The Design Process
This MOC was my first build at this size, and a model I worked on in my teens. It took nearly six months to build as I hit some major hurdles, including a limited access to parts and building the flight pods.
I started the build with the front section, getting the shape just right with SNOT (Studs not on top) techniques. I then moved to the main body. It was challenging to get the main body stable as it was a solid skeleton structure with SNOT panels covering the outside, so it was hollow. This meant that it was difficult once the panels were on to make adjustments to the basic structure. Nonetheless, I completed the middle section and started working on the flight pods. The Pegasus has a cool design where it has a second flight pod on each side (flipped upside down).
This is where the parts became a challenge! I wasn’t expecting the flight pods to use so many bricks, as it was my first build of this size. I also struggled to get the shape right. This created a bit of a delay, and I ended up moving to the engines, leaving the ship with only two flight pods temporarily.
Finally I finished the extra two flight pods using some pieces on different angles, and SNOT to ensure the flipped flight pods were identical to the top ones, and added some detail!
Sadly, this MOC suffered the worst fate – I dropped it – and put the pieces towards the next MOC instead of a rebuild.
