The Design Process

I decided to delve from sci-fi into the video game world with the iconic Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda video games. This build was fairly straightforward as the blade isn’t proportionally oversized compared to the hilt which means I didn’t have to be creative to make it stable and “swooshable”. The biggest challenge was the sword has a lot of slightly different versions from across the different games and each image I found was a little bit different, so I took some creative licence and tried to make it as recognisable as possible.

The hilt uses a lot of SNOT (Studs not on top) to make it almost completely studless and ensure it is near identical from both sides. This technique helped me get the shape just right. I ordered some new unique pearl gold elements to get some detail and have some colours that stand out.

This was a fast build. I didn’t have a display coming up but I though it would be fun to challenge myself and see how fast I could design and build it, and it took around 2 hours!
