Here’s a preview of my new Star Trek LEGO® project – The Phoenix from Star Trek First Contact. This is a ship I have wanted to build for a long time – especially because of its design similarities to a modern day rocket. The official Saturn V LEGO® set was an inspiration to finally put the Phoenix together. I found it quite challenging to get the design right, and I had to do a lot of trial and error so I have decided to (for the first time) build it digitally first rather than after building it in real life (as I normally do).

It’s a new way of building for me, but there’s a lot of opportunity to use a bigger variety of elements and techniques so I am loving it!

I have only built the cockpit, and half of the main section so far but I am very excited with how it’s looking and can’t wait to finish it and then replicate it as a shelf display piece!

For reference, here is the original. My version will have the nacelles fully expanded in the final stage of separation (and they will not be retractable).
