Battlestar Galactica and the Colonial Fleet

I have been working on an exciting new project that has been on the cards for a while – The Battlestar Galactica from the 2004 remake. Battlestar Galactica is an iconic Sci-Fi show. The 2004 remake is a favourite for me (and one of those shows I rewatch often!) so of course I had to build some ships in LEGO® form. It’s been a challenging project that has required a lot of building, and then rebuilding – and a lot of Bricklink orders! Check out the progress photo below

There is still a lot of work to go, because I want to get the details and proportions just right. Just after this photo was taken, I started dismantling the entire ship because the proportions are slightly off. I intend to widen the central section of the ship from the front to the engines.

The main challenge so far has been getting the angles just right. The Galactica is a unique design that is difficult to replicate in brick form. I have achieved this through using SNOT (studs not on top) as you can see at the front of the ship and on the flight pods.

This is part of a much bigger project. I intend to build the main ships from the fleet – around 15-20 ships in total. These will all be to approximate scale with Galactica. Stay tuned for more updates!
